Whenever possible, we use a strategic sourcing methodology to reach enterprise-level decisions on supply chain solutions. The method's success lies in the alignment of the sourcing and business strategies through active participation by representatives from our businesses on cross functional sourcing teams. These teams research the marketplace, develop a strategy, evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate and select a supplier. This approach promotes a wide acceptance of enterprise-wide supplier agreements and enhances communication of these enterprise agreements.

We continually seek opportunities to impact spending across all of the AIG companies; identify ways to improve our purchasing processes and efficiencies; develop mutually beneficial supplier relationships and enhance existing supplier relationships. We seek suppliers that can help us meet our global requirements at the lowest total cost, while meeting the unique needs of our local markets.
