Robert S. Schimek

Robert S. Schimek is President and Chief Executive Officer of EMEA, Chartis. He is responsible for Chartis’ insurance business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Mr. Schimek had previously served for six years as Chartis’ Chief Financial Officer, responsible for all worldwide financial operations.

Prior to the formation of Chartis, Mr. Schimek was Vice President of American International Group, Inc. (AIG) and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of AIG’s U.S. Property Casualty Group.

Mr. Schimek joined AIG in 2005 and has led a number of major finance initiatives in the following areas:



• Finance transformation
• Capital management
• Regulatory and rating agency
• Income tax
• Treasury and investments

Prior to joining AIG, Mr. Schimek was a partner at Deloitte & Touche L.L.P. where, for 18 years he used his public accounting experience to help a diverse range of financial institution clients in the insurance and mortgage banking businesses.

Mr. Schimek is a CPA. He has also earned his MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Rider University in New Jersey.

Mr. Schimek sits on the Rider University President’s Council and the Accounting Advisory Council as an alumni member.
